Glass Reinforced Plastic (Commonly know as Fibreglass)  is a very versatile and strong material.

For boat construction, especially jetboats, fibreglass has many advantages. These include built in color, if dented will usually pop back to its original shape and no corrosion.
In the past jetboats have been manufactured from the cheapest resins available, but today for little extra cost with much better types of resin and additives available you are able to get very high strength boat bottoms.

Don't be fooled by talk that alloy is better, its not.
